In 1889, the Farina Family left Catania, Sicily, in search of new opportunities; they arrived to New York on a colorful autumn day and were welcomed by the newly unveiled Statue of Liberty.
Weekends at grandma's were special for the children, in particular for young Filippo who enjoyed helping La Nonna prepare Sunday brunch.
As Filipo grew, so did his love for the kitchen. He worked in different local restaurants washing dishes and doing small chores, but soon enough his efforts paid off and cooks would fight over Filippo's hard work.
His pass through several venues in "Little Italy" taught him the use of some American products in Italian cuisine, a novelty to him as these were seldom used in La Nonna's Kitchen.

The restaurant has a beautiful modern look to it. They have a huge wait staff and provide excellent upscale service. My brother had the chicken marsala and said it is the best tasting sauce he has had, which speaks volumes from a guy who lives just outside of Philly. My wife loved her salmon. My sister had the eggplant parmesan and it was nicely plated ( and all eaten!).
The most delicious meal I've had in years!!! With that I say it all. As an appetizer we began with the calamari. I would absolutely recommend. Breading was light. Not too thick, so you could easily taste and enjoy the freshness of the calamari, but tasty and well seasoned. The lightly breaded slices of zucchini were a great touch. My boyfriend and I shared the shrimp and mushroom risotto. It was cheesy, thick, and yummy. The jumbo sized shrimp was clean (an absolute must for me) and tasted like it was seasoned and grilled perfectly. Overall, the six jumbo shrimp and the portion of rice were very reasonable.
So me and my boyfriend go to a different restaurants on the 1st of every month. We had a funeral service of my best friends grandfather in Doral after worth we decided to go eat some where special. checked yelp and yes we were close to an Italian restaurant called divieto didn't seem special on yelp but hey we are adventurist. so we came through.
